Proposed Interpretive Center
The proposed center will house interpretive panels to tell their story. One panel will include samples of Mary’s illustrations and quotations from her writings, as well as a list of her achievements. Arthur’s panel will showcase the importance of his irrigation design plan and its subsequent impact on or area. The center’s structure will be reminiscent of the veranda of the Foote House (see above illustration), with its 2’ thick and 3’ high lava rocks walls. Just as the house – built substantially of native basalt – blended so well with the landscape of the Boise River Canyon, the design of the interpretive structure will reflect that same vision. To enrich the visitor’s experience, solar powered interpretive devices will provide audio information.
